Juventus condemned racist remarks made toward USMNT star Weston McKennie following Juventus’ 2-0 win over Parma on Sunday.
Juventus issued a statement after the contest, saying McKennie was subjected to “discriminatory racist remarks by some individuals in the away section” after the game ended.

The team said it would work to try and identify the individuals who made the comments. It’s full statement read:
“This evening, at the end of the match against Parma, Weston McKennie was subjected to discriminatory racist remarks by some individuals in the away section, while he was training on the pitch with his teammates who had not taken part in the game.
“Juventus strongly condemns this incident and any form of racism, and will ensure full cooperation with the sporting justice authorities to identify those responsible.”
McKennie, 26, came on as a sub during Juventus’ season-opening victory. Jonathan David and Dusan Vlahovic each scored goals in the win, with Kenan Yildiz picking up two assists.
McKennie originally joined Juventus in 2020. Sunday marked the start of his sixth season with the club. The midfielder has 102 starts with the club, scoring 11 goals and picking up 16 assists.
He’s also spent time with the USMNT, where he has 11 career goals and seven career assists.
The incident marks the third instance in the last week that alleged racist abuse has occurred at a soccer match. FIFA president Gianni Infantino spoke out Monday against two instances of alleged racial abuse that took place during the German Cup, calling them “unacceptable.”
