The first night of the 2020 Democratic presidential debates drew in about 10 million viewers for NBC, according to a report on Thursday citing preliminary figures.
But those numbers are only for NBC, The Hollywood Reporter said.
The debate featuring 10 of the Democratic hopefuls was also shown on MSNBC and Telemundo, and those numbers will be released later Thursday.
Even with the adjusted numbers, NBC’s Wednesday broadcast is expected to fall short of the first Republican debate in the 2016 election that attracted an audience of 24 million for Fox News.
It was Donald Trump’s first time facing his challengers on stage.
But it’s expected to be higher than the first Democratic debate in Oct. 2015 that drew 15.8 viewers on CNN.
The second night of the Democratic debate will be aired Thursday between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. in Miami and will include front-runner Joe Biden, Sens. Bernie Sanders and Kamala Harris, and Mayor Pete Buttigieg.
