The host country Qatar has already started to feel the insanity of the World Cup. According to the organizers, 12 lakh tickets out of 20 lakh tickets allotted for the general public have been sold.

23.5 million applications were received till the end of April for the last episode of ticket sales. According to FIFA, the world governing body for football, the highest number of ticket applications comes from Argentina, Brazil, England, France, Mexico, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the United States.

Hassan al-Thawadi, secretary-general of Qatar's World Cup organizing committee, unveiled ticket sales on Wednesday.

"About 12 lakh tickets have already been sold. People are really buying and they are thrilled to be here.

He said a total of 20 lakh tickets would be sold for the 28-day event to be held in November and December.

Tickets for the next round will be sold on a first-come first-served basis. However, the date when it will start has not been announced yet.

On the occasion of the World Cup, the host Qatar has taken various steps for the visitors coming from different countries of the world. They have increased accommodation outside the hotel.
