2023 Recopa Sudamericana H2H:
Both teams have faced each other four times, and out of those four encounters, Brazilian club Flamengo has won two and drew one, with the Ecuadorian club having one win under their belt. Talking about their head-to-head fixtures, both teams last met each other in a group stage fixture of the 2020 Copa Libertadores, where Flamengo recorded a 4-0 win.
2023 Recopa Sudamericana Preview:
Talking about the Ecuadorian club first, they progressed to this game as Copa Sudamericana champions. They defeated Lanus in the round of 16, then knocked out Deportivo Tachira in the quarter-finals and Melgar in the semi-finals and Sao Paulo in the ultimate clash.
However, they’re going to this game with only one game played this year, a 3-0 win against Aucas in the Supercopa de Ecuador. The excellent news for Venezuelan-Argentine coach Martin Anselmo coming to this game is that he has an entire squad available for this heavyweight clash. They’ll depend again on their attacking midfielder, Junior Sornoza, who scored 15 goals and registered 11 assists in all competitions last season.
On the other hand, Flamengo progressed to Recopa Sudamericana after winning their second Copa Libertadores title in three years. Moreover, unlike their opponent, Flamengo is coming to this game with playing games in recent days and has scored 25 goals in their last ten games. However, they lost against tough opponents, Al Hilal and Palmeiras, which has cast a shadow of a doubt.
Going to this game, Vitor Pereira will be without the services of his left winger Bruno Henrique who is out due to a knee injury. That said, they’ll be relying on Gabriel Barbosa in this clash.
