The new host country of this year's FIFA Club World Cup has been finalized. The annual tournament will be held in the United Arab Emirates early next year.
Gianni Infantino, president of the world governing body for football, confirmed the matter on Wednesday. However, the schedule of the tournament has not been decided yet.
The seven-team tournament was originally scheduled to take place in Japan in December this year. But Japan withdrew from the host last month due to the Kovid-19 epidemic.
Initially modified version, the tournament was scheduled to be held in China in June this year with 24 teams. The idea of a new version was put on hold due to the epidemic, and FIFA chose Japan last year as the host for the old-fashioned event.
The competition is held every year with six continental champions and the league winning clubs of the host country.
The UAE has previously hosted the Club World Cup four times - in 2009, 2010, 2017 and 2018.
