Bayern Munich is on the verge of winning the Bundesliga this season. This time Robert Lewandowski’s winning goal also confirmed the Bayern in the final of the German Cup.
Bayern beat Eintracht Frankfurt 2-1 on Wednesday night (June 10). With this, they reached the final of the German Cup for the third time in a row. Bayern beat Leipzig last season to win the title.
Hans Flick’s side, dominating from the start of the match, had to wait until 14 minutes to score their first goal. Croatian midfielder Ivan Parisic, who signed for Bayern Munich from Inter Milan, scored the first goal for the Bavarians. They went to the break 1-0 in the first half.
Lever’s goal was initially ruled offside. The video assistant referee later gifted the goal to Bayern.
Returning from the break, however, the 2017/18 German Cup champions put up some resistance. Da Costa scored in the 69th minute to level the score for Frankfurt. However, in the 74th minute of the match, Lewandowski scored from the assist of Joshua Kimich. The Polish striker has scored 45 goals in 39 appearances for Bayern in all competitions this season (2019-2020).
The final of the German Cup will be held on July 4, at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin. Their opponent in the final is Bayer Leverkusen.
On the other hand, Bayern will win the Bundesliga title for the eighth time in a row if they win just two more matches. They are unbeaten in 20 of the last 21 matches.
