Argentine goalkeeper Willy Caballero has extended his contract with Premier League giants Chelsea for another year. Caballero has made this decision on the condition of extending it for another year after the end of the ongoing contract.
“I am delighted to announce this contract extension,” Caballero said on Chelsea’s website. Being a member of Chelsea is a real privilege. I am delighted to be with one of the best teams in the history of the Premier League. Everyone is having a hard time right now. I am fortunate to have this opportunity at this time.
Caballero has played nine matches for Frank Lampard’s side this season. Caballero played his last match with Bournemouth at the end of February, the match was drawn 2-2. The 38-year-old goalkeeper joined Chelsea from Manchester City in 2017.
He started the season as a back-up to Kepa Arizabalagar. Caballero got a chance in the main team in five consecutive matches after he was knocked out of the team by Kepa after making several fatal losses.
“We have full confidence in Willie,” Lampard said. He is a very professional player. He also performs well in practice. Caballero has been on the field for Chelsea since the beginning of this year. I’m really happy to have him on the team next season.
