China suspends 2021 Beijing marathon over corona infection

China has postponed the Beijing Marathon until further notice due to an increase in coronavirus infections.

This information was given in a report of BBC on Monday.

The suspension came after the country's top health officials warned of a further outbreak of the corona outbreak, the report said.

More than 133 new corona cases have been identified in 11 Chinese provinces. All of them are affected by the Delta variant.

This is believed to be the largest outbreak of corona in China since August this year.

Held annually since 1981, the Beijing Marathon is one of the largest local sporting events in China. The marathon was scheduled to be held on October 31. About 30,000 people were expected to take part.
