The Cougars (18-4-1), in the first championship match in the 27-year history of their program, will be decided underdogs against the Seminoles (21-1-2), who advanced with a 1-0 win over Rutgers.
Rutgers, the Big Ten regular-season champion, was making its first College Cup appearance since 2015. The fifth-ranked Scarlet Knights advanced to the semifinals on penalties after a 2-2 draw with Arkansas.
BYU advanced in penalty kicks (3-2) after 110 minutes of scoreless play against West Coast Conference foe Santa Clara in the semifinals of the NCAA College Cup Friday night at a sold-out Stevens Stadium
BYU has the number one offense in the entire country. The Cougars average 3.5 goals per game as well as 24.5 shots per game, leading the nation in both categories. Florida State on the other hand has a goalkeeper in Cristina Roque that had only been forced to make just under 25 saves the entire season heading into the College Cup.
