Ex-Liverpool star explains why Mino Raiola will ensure Paul Pogba gets his own way

Paul Pogba is in safe hands in this summer’s transfer window – because he has Mino Raiola as his agent.

That is the view of one of Raiola’s former clients and ex- Liverpool winger Oussama Assaidi.

The Moroccan international was represented by super agent Raiola during his negotiations with the Anfield club back in 2012.

And Assaidi revealed to Dutch newspaper Volkskrant, via the Star , just why Raiola is so unique.

“He turned it so that I had to be happy that he wanted to represent me,” Assaidi said about his first meeting with Raiola.

“Still, he intrigued me. He looks tough, but really cares about you. When it comes to concluding contracts, he goes through the fire for you. And that’s what it’s all about.”

Pogba is currently trying to navigate his way out of current club Manchester United this summer.

Real Madrid and Pogba’s former club Juventus are both said to be interested in signing the Frenchman, with Raiola now said to be in discussions with both sides over a potential move.

Any transfer is likely to be bigger than Pogba’s switch to Old Trafford three years ago, when he cost a then-world record fee of £89 million.

Raiola’s negotiating skills played a key role, and helped make Pogba one of the club’s top earners.

Assaidi said: “In 2015 I arranged a club in Dubai myself. Then we broke up [him and Raiola], no hard feelings.

“He is fighting for you. He walks away from the table four times to make the best deal.

“Other agents that I had wanted to keep clubs as a friend, which could be at your expense. Mino is not sorry about that.”

Raiola helped to arrange big-money terms for Assaidi when he made the move from Dutch club Heerenveen to Liverpool for £3.5 million, despite him going on to be nothing more than a bit-part player for the Reds.

Assiaidi managed just a handful of Premier League appearances, before being loaned to Stoke and eventually moving on to Al-Ahli Dubai in 2015.

“No regrets,” Assaidi added. “Mino had arranged a top contract. If I got all my bonuses, I would be among the best-paid players. While I was from Heerenveen!

“He is open to criticism. If I thought it was taking too long for a new club to arrive, he would go to work.”
