Tyson Fury’s next fight will be against former UFC champion Francis Ngannou, with the pair set to face off in a mega-money showdown in the Middle East. The ‘Gypsy King’ is set to return for the first time since beating Derek Chisora late last year after talks collapsed over an undisputed title fight with Oleksandr Usyk.
His rival Ngannou will make his first appearance in the boxing ring after resigning from his contract with the UFC to pursue lucrative non-promotion opportunities. “The Predator” has demonstrated tremendous clout throughout his career in the cage and he believes that will have an effect on squaring the circle, even if the verdict is that he will enter the competition as an overwhelming underdog.
Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou Date
Fury’s heavyweight fight with Ngannou is set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on Saturday October 28 as the region continues to invest in the growth of its martial arts. Players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar and Anthony Joshua have all brought competition to the Middle East and that will continue as the two heavyweights make their debuts there.
Both men are expected to rake in over £50million each, with the fight being backed to attract a huge audience considering they have an extensive profile in two different sports combined. Ngannou can take it all from this event with an impressive win that will likely make him ponder a longer-term future in the sport, while Fury will just have to do what he does best and potentially stage a showdown with Usyk.
Tyson Fury vs Francis Ngannou start time
A start time for the entire event has yet to be announced, but the fight card is expected to start around 18:19 UK time (13:00 ET) and there will be a whole host of undercard fighters in the running to be eliminated can the lights. Fury’s main event against Ngannou will then likely follow a series of fights, with ringwalks expected to take place between 10pm and 11pm UK (5pm and 6pm ET).
The fighters will then no doubt partake in extravagant ring walks that set the action back about 15 to 20 minutes before the pair touches the gauntlets. This all depends on the length of the previous undercard, with some of the contestants from Queensberry Promotions and Skills Challenge Entertainment likely being considered for fight night attendance.
