Aug. 31—SARTELL — The Willmar girls tennis team fell 6-1 to the Sartell Sabres in a Central Lakes Conference match Thursday afternoon.
The Cardinals picked up their point at No. 1 singles. Adali Laidlaw beat the Sabres’ Addy Bultema 6-2, 6-4.
Sartell improves its record to 3-0 in the CLC and 6-4 overall. Willmar is now 0-3 in conference play and 0-3 overall.
The Cardinals’ next match is at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rocori in another CLC match.

The closest call for the Wildcats came at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles. At No. 1, Delaney Hanson and Madisyn Claseman beat Mariah Gutknecht and Lydia Simons 6-4, 4-6, 6-0. At No. 2, NLS’ Brianna Wielman and Jadyn Proehl defeated Abby Christensen and Jadyn Stuewe 4-6, 6-2, 6-2.
GSL (2-9) got its win at No. 1 singles. Anna Sievert beat Amyra Gamez 6-1, 6-0.
