Hockey Canada names 25-man squad for 2021 IIHF World Championship

Hockey Canada has reported a 25-man crew for the forthcoming men's International Ice Hockey Federation World Championship in Latvian capital Riga. The Canadians open the tournament 21 May against Latvia.

The Canadian men’s team was winless at the 2016 world championships, finishing with a 1-6 record in Czech Republic. The Americans won the event, beating Canada 3-2 in overtime.

Three goaltenders, eight defencemen and 14 forwards have been selected by general manager Roberto Luongo for the event, scheduled to run from May 21 to June 6.

Michael DiPietro, Adam Henrique, Darcy Kuemper and Troy Stecher will provide experience for the Canadian team having featured at the last World Championship in 2019.
