The NBA Draft Lottery 2022 will be held on Tuesday, May 17 in Chicago at 8 p.m. ET. There will be four balls haphazardly drawn by NBA authorities, and the four-number blend will be one of the 1,000 that are allocated to every one of the 14 NBA Draft lottery spaces in view of their records during the 2021-22 season.
The Rockets last won the draft lottery — taking Yao Ming first overall in 2002 — but there's a chance Lady Luck comes back around tonight (a 14.0 percent chance, to be exact). The NBA will later release the video to the public of the entire back-room lottery drawing (here is last year's with an explainer on how it works).
- Date: Tuesday, May 17
- Time: 7 p.m. CDT
- TV Channel: ESPN
The lottery doesn't decide the request for the first round or the "lottery" fragment. All decisions after the main four depend on record. Ping pong balls are the lottery. 14 numbers somewhere in the range of 1 and 14 are embedded into a machine. Four ping pong balls are chosen, making a four-number mix for one of 14 groups.
Each group's record decides the number of blends they get. The three most exceedingly awful groups get 140 assortments each. The principal club to draw the blend gets the main by and large decision. Just members, the media, and Ernst and Young are available for the drawing. NBA representative chief Mark Tatum will cull the main 14 decisions out of envelopes, starting at No. 14 and moving in reverse.
