Jake Paul, the famous Youtuber who ventured into the world of boxing, insists on making the fight of his dreams a reality and it is against one of the best fighters in the world today… Saul “Canelo” Alvarez.
Despite the Mexican’s clear aversion to YouTube boxing, Paul maintains that this fight is going to happen.
The influencer has expressed on several occasions that he wants to fight one of boxing’s biggest superstars, Canelo Alvarez, and he seems to be focusing all his training on facing him.
“Canelo has shown and said in interviews that he’s interested in it. So, I think we’re closer than we thought,” Paul told The MMA Hour.
“It’s weird to even say that now, when like three or two years ago I said that, I believed it from day one, but everybody else was like, ‘Who the hell is this kid? Shut this kid up,’ but now it’s pretty real.”
Jake Paul believes he is ready for Canelo fight
Despite his loss to Tommy Fury in February and following his win over Nate Diaz in August, Jake Paul will return to the ring on December 15 against Andre August, a little-known fighter with a 10-1-1 record, but one who is sure to put up a fight for the Youtuber.
Jake Paul insists on seeking meaningful challenges and facing the four-division champion, who has made it clear he has other career goals, but he wouldn’t completely rule out a fight with the 26-year-old, who is seven years younger than the Mexican.
“I think the path I’m on now prepares me in the future to fight Canelo,” he continued.
“I’m even showing him that I can fight ten or 12 rounds and I’ve done it with real legitimate professional boxers and I beat them. So, when I beat these guys in the next year or two and I keep raising the level of competition, I think against Canelo it becomes a really interesting fight.”
While the prospect of a fight between Jake Paul and Canelo Alvarez may come as a surprise to many, the boxing world has undergone a change in recent years with the involvement of celebrities and media figures in high-profile events.
The combination of entertainment and sport has generated significant interest in these fights, and Jake Paul is looking to capitalize on that trend, with Canelo still looking for a challenge, but would not rule out a fight with Jake when his professional career is over.
