Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg has reported on the transfer status of Ajax player Mohammed Kudus. West Ham are working on a verbal agreement for the Ghanian attacker, but the negotiations between the two clubs are ongoing.
West Ham Working on Kudus Deal
According to Plettenberg’s post, Ajax are “still waiting for a concrete offer” for the 23-year-old. The Dutch giants want over £34 million for Kudus, who has previously been the target of interest from fellow London club Arsenal. It is not currently known whether West Ham are prepared to offer that sum of money.
Ajax have a good history of developing players from a young age and selling them for large fees. Kudus, though not an academy product of the famed Dutch team, could be sold for a decent profit if they are able to capture their asking price for the young star. The departure of Declan Rice and the rumoured exit of more Hammers players could convince Ajax that West Ham have money to spend.
Kudus’s Premier League Attention
Aside from the two London outfits, Manchester United have also been linked to the “incredible” attacker. Kudus contributed four goals in six games during last campaign’s UEFA Champions League group stage. Ajax were defeated by the likes of Liverpool and Napoli, but his performances helped the club advance to the Europa League knock-out rounds.
Taking the pitch as either an attacking midfielder or a forward, Kudus improved his reputation on football’s highest stage. Despite being eliminated from a difficult Group H in the 2022 World Cup, Ghana were represented well by Kudus who helped his team to their only victory.
