Liverpool are not taking to the field on Boxing Day. Their Premier League match against Leeds United has been postponed due to coronavirus.
The same day match between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Watford has also been postponed. Premier League authorities said in a statement on Thursday that Leeds and Watford had been suspended for two matches at the request of coronaviruses as their numbers increased.
Liverpool were scheduled to face Leeds at Anfield next Sunday at noon local time. Wolverhampton and Watford would face each other at the same time.
Watford's last two round matches against Burnley and Crystal Palace have also been postponed due to Covid. There are not enough players to bring the team to the field due to coronavirus.
And Leeds reports that five more of them have recently tested positive. No symptoms were seen in any of them.
The number of postponed matches in the Premier League has increased to 12 due to the increase in the number of coronavirus cases in the teams.
