MIT earned a hard-fought sweep of the doubles matches, including an 8-5 win at the No. 1 position. The MIT duo of sophomore Kimberly Liao (Commack, N.Y.) and junior Yuka Perera (Santa Barbara, Calif.) rallied from a 5-2 deficit to defeat Yuu Ishikawa and Erica Ekstrand as Liao served out the match.
At No. 2, juniors Sarah Pertsemlidis (Coppell, Texas) and Seraphin Castelino (Superior, Colo.) defeated Jenny Tian and Julia Pham to make it 1-0. Graduate student Megan Guenther (Willowbrook, Ill.) and first-year Jessica Lu (Austin, Texas) picked up an 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles.
The Engineers took a 4-0 lead in the match when Lu defeated Ananya Aggarwal by a 6-2, 6-1 final at No. 4 singles. Perera wrapped up the overall match with a 6-0, 6-2 victory over Maxine Ng at No. 5 as she broke Ng's serve on the clinching game.
MIT has now won 19 straight matches overall and is 9-0 vs. nationally-ranked opponents.

- The Lead: In the NCAA Regional Final on Sunday afternoon, the No. 7 MIT women's tennis team punched its ticket to the Elite Eight with a 5-0 win over No. 13 Williams College. The Engineers will be making their fourth all-time appearance in the Elite Eight, which will take place in Orlando, Florida from May 23-25.
