Neymar Jr., the Brazilian star of Paris Saint-Germain, performed well in the UEFA Champions League match on Wednesday night. Neymar has a pair of assists in the 3-2 defeat to defending champions Bayern Munich.
However, on the same day he got a bad news again. On the day of playing well in the best competition in Europe, he got the news of the ban in the domestic tournament French League One. Neymar will not be able to play the next two league matches for PSG.
PSG lost 0-1 to Lille in the league match last Saturday. Neymar saw a red card at the very end of that match. The referee showed a second yellow card for an unnecessary altercation with opponent Tiago Diallo. As a result, he had to leave the field.
Usually the penalty for seeing two yellow cards in the same match is a one-match ban. But the League One authorities have decided that Neymar will have to stay out of action for two matches for his job.
An official statement from the League One authorities said Neymar had been banned for three matches. He will have to face a ban for the remaining two matches as the penalty for one match has been suspended. Diallo has also been banned for one match.
As a result of the ban, Neymar will not be able to play away matches against Strasbourg next Saturday and home matches against St. Etienne on April 18. He will return with a match against Metz on April 24. Then PSG will have only five matches left in the league.
