Bentley University senior volleyball player and tri-captain Amanda Parker (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North HS) has been named the Setter of the Week in the Northeast-10 Conference following her outstanding performance last week.
Parker directed Bentley to a 3-0 week by providing 110 assists, 27 digs, six blocks and four aces in ten sets. She had 42 assists in three sets against Saint Rose, 35 in three at Assumption and 33 in a four-setter against Le Moyne.
For the season, Parker is averaging 10.37 assists, 3.06 digs, 0.6 kills and 0.53 blocks while also leading the team in blocks with 30. She's number two in the conference in assists per set and is third in aces per set.
Also recognized by the conference, with selection to the Weekly Honor Roll, were freshman libero Jazzy Burke (Lake George, N.Y./Lake George Central HS) and sophomore outside hitter Ellie Wheeler (Olathe, Kans./Saint James Academy).
Burke made 51 digs during the three wins, an average of 5.1 per set. She had 17 at Assumption, 19 against Saint Rose and 15 against Le Moyne. She also had two aces during the week, as well as a .943 reception percentage. In the Le Moyne match, she handled 30 of 30 serve receives.
In three conference wins, Wheeler gave the Falcons 41 kills, a .245 hitting percentage, 26 digs, three aces, two blocks and 45 points. Those were good for averages of 4.1 kills, 2.6 digs and 4.5 points. Her week included 13 kills and 11 digs at Assumption, 15 kills with a .433 hitting percentage and eight digs against Saint Rose and 13 kills and seven digs against Le Moyne.
Bentley, 11-2 in its last 13 matches and currently number two in the NE10 standings, is 12-7 overall. The Falcons are back in action this weekend with matches at Adelphi and Pace.
