He has been in rhythm since his return to Manchester United at the end of the summer transfer window. Cristiano Ronaldo got a recognition this time. The Portuguese superstar has been named the best player of September in the Premier League.
Ronaldo joined United from Juventus on a two-year deal last August. The Portuguese star, who played in the Premier League from 2003 to 2009, returned to the familiar arena 12 years later.
The 36-year-old forward made a fresh start by scoring a pair of goals in his return match for Old Trafford. In the second term so far, the team has scored five goals in 6 matches in all competitions.
For the fifth time in a row, Ronaldo has been named the league's best player of the month. He last received the award in March 2018. The five-time Footballer of the Year is the longest in the history of the Premier League to win the title for two months in 13 years.
Cristiano Ronaldo posted on Twitter: “Proud to be elected Player Of The Month among so many great players in the Premier League.”
“Thanks to all my teammates at Man United, couldn’t have done it without them. Let’s keep working hard and the results will come!”
Ronaldo’s teammates are also happy about his achievement. Jesse Lingard said “He’s brought so much to the team. The leadership factor, he wants to win in training, he wants to win in games and he wants to win trophies, which is the main thing. He’s great to be around to watch what he does.
“You can learn so many things from him. He’s one of the best players in the world. To have him back home is perfect for use at the moment.
“He’s humble. He’s a positive person. To be learning different things off the field as well as on it has been good. I think he can really help out the team this season.”
