Fury won their bout in Saudi Arabia and, unlike some, Porter agrees that the Englishman did enough to win that fight.
But, Porter was left impressed by Ngannou‘s skills and believes he can cause other heavyweight boxers problems down the line.
“Even though Ngannou showed himself to be very strong, and showed himself to be prepared for this fight, he also showed that he does not have enough boxing mechanics to win enough rounds to beat Tyson Fury,” Porter told TMZ Sports.
“His lack of experience showed because there were rounds where he essentially did zero to win those rounds.
“If he’s able to find a pace, he’s going to get some heavyweight fighters some trouble because he’s big enough to fight there.
“He showed he’s strong enough to fight there. The guy is athletic. He got skills.
“I didn’t know Francis had these kinds of skills.”
Shawn Porter is critical of Tyson Fury
Meanwhile, Porter also analysed the performance of Tyson Fury and he was disappointed with the way the veteran approached this fight.
“He underperformed, he wasn’t prepared for this fight,” Porter said of Fury.
“He didn’t fine-tune, because on fight night he was very off.
“Why was Tyson Fury off? Because he didn’t do a lot of the things correctly in camp.”
