Softball: LIU For Midweek NEC Series

The Wagner College softball team will play a pivotal midweek series at LIU on Tuesday and Wednesday, with Northeast Conference (NEC) play winding down.

First pitch for Tuesday's doubleheader is set for 1:00 pm, with Wednesday's single game scheduled for 3:00 pm. All games will stream on NECFrontRow.

Wagner is coming off a 2-2 week with wins over Merrimack and Bryant.

Offensively, senior Makenzie Miller dominated with a .615 average and 1.000 slugging percentage across the four games. In Wagner's 10-3 win over Bryant, Miller went 4-4 with a home run in her final at bat and four total RBIs.

In the circle, senior Eve Harvey, the reigning NEC Co-Pitcher of the Week, had a historic performance last Wednesday against the Warriors, striking out a career-high 12 batters.

Harvey surpassed 200 career strikeouts while also breaking into the top five in strikeouts in program history, surpassing Cathy Guerriro, who logged 194 K's between 1988 and 1991.

Harvey is tied for third in the NEC with nine wins on the season, with sophomore Scarlett Lloyd sitting in fifth in the conference with 85 strikeouts on the season.

The Sharks enter the series with a 17-23 overall record and 6-6 conference mark, most recently earning a sweep over Sacred Heart.

Next up, the Seahawks will travel to Sacred Heart for a three-game series this weekend, with two games on Saturday and one game on Sunday.
