Nathan Lyon looks set to face a big challenge for Australia in the Test series on Pakistani soil. However, this experienced spinner is seeing his own victory there. After all, none of the team has any experience of playing Tests in Pakistan. However, Whitewash has set a goal.
Australia has come to Pakistan after a long 24 years. They arrived in Pakistan on Sunday to play three Tests, three ODIs and a T20I. On Tuesday, they practiced for the first time in Rawalpindi.
Nathan Lyon Statement
“To be honest, my mindset in every game I go into, I don’t go in [wanting] to draw or lose it,” Lyon said. “My mindset is to play in Pakistan and win 3-0. We haven’t played an away Test since 2019, so it’s going to be a big challenge for us. I think this is a very young, exciting Australian Test squad that we’ve got here at the moment. We’re coming off a pretty spectacular summer back home. It has given the group a lot of confidence.”
“It’s probably not the type of wicket I would prepare if I was still doing my curating stuff, but those days are long gone,” Lyon added.
Lyon, who has taken 95 wickets at 31.24 in the subcontinent, spoke highly about Pakistan batters, especially their captain Babar Azam.
“I can’t wait to challenge myself. There are some unbelievable batters in this Pakistan line-up that I am going to have some decent challenges with. Babar [Azam] is definitely high up there in the stakes of one of the best cricketers in the world that’s for sure.
