Rafael Nadal, one of the best tennis stars of the time, got off to a great start this year. One match after another went on to win the Indian Wells Championship. That's why he went up to the final of the tournament. But in the title match, American star Taylor Fritz became the champion by giving Nadal a taste of defeat.
This is the first defeat of the Spanish star Rafael Nadal. The Indian Wells Masters title was not won at the same rate.
Taylor Fritz, 24, finished the tournament of his life by holding his nerve in the tightest moments to upset Rafael Nadal 6-3, 7-6(5) and win his first Masters 1000 title in Indian Wells.
Fritz, who had never reached a Masters 1000 final until this tournament, required third-set tiebreakers to get past Jaume Munar and Alex de Minaur and three sets to defeat Miomir Kecmanovic before finding his form and range against Andrey Rublev on Saturday.
