The host city has announced that the 2026 Commonwealth Games will be held in the Australian state of Victoria. At the same time, it has been reported that each event will be held outside the provincial capital, Melbourne.
Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews has thanked the Commonwealth Games Federation for giving Victoria the opportunity to host such a large international event. At the same time, he acknowledged that the decision to host all events outside of Melbourne was a bit risky, but they were optimistic about hosting a successful game.
Events for the 2026 Games will be held in the four Victorian provincial cities of Gilong, Balarat, Bendigo and Gipsland. Each city will have its own Athlete Village.
However, the opening ceremony of the Games will be held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, the largest stadium in Australia. The stadium has a capacity of more than one lakh spectators.
So far 18 sports have been confirmed. These include aquatics, cycling and T20 cricket. However, the number of sports may increase.

This is the sixth time the Commonwealth Games have been held in Australia. For the second time since Melbourne in 2006, Victoria is set to host the largest Commonwealth Games event in the world.
The 2022 Commonwealth Games will be held in Birmingham, England from July 28 to August 8.
