Dolphins defensive end Robert Quinn surprisingly had the opportunity in deciding which team Miami would trade him to.
“This trade was a little different because I had two options,” Quinn told Dallas SportsDay. “More professionally, they kind of allowed me to pick and choose where I wanted to go.”
Quinn was allowed a plethora of flexibility for this trade deal, as he visited both the homes of the Dallas Cowboys and the New Orleans Saints. He ultimately chose the Cowboys over the Saints. The rebuilding Dolphins got a sixth-round pick back for the 29-year-old Quinn.
“It was more of a gut feeling. Sometimes your gut leads you in the right direction,” Quinn told SportsDay.
As Quinn laid out his options, he found himself drawn more towards the Lone Star state. The playoff-contending Cowboys team seemed like a much more attractive option for Quinn’s attacking nature. With a total of 6.5 sacks, 38 tackles, nine tackles for loss, and 15 QB hits in 16 games during the 2018-19 season, he could add some much needed flare to the defensive line.
The already two-time Pro Bowl select has a greater opportunity to build his stats with the Cowboys, and he was lucky enough to have the opportunity that will make or break the future of his career.
