Green Bay Packers vs Arizona Cardinals
Thursday Night Football Week 8 will feature an epic battle of two NFC heavyweights who are both title contenders. Green Bay (6-1) have started to look like their normal selves after an embarrassing Week 1 loss to the Saints. Aaron looks ageless as ever as he is still slinging the ball all over the field with confidence. Rodgers has tossed for 1710 yards, 15 TD, and 3 INTs while completing 151/221 of his passes.
Rodgers isn’t the only QB in contention in this game who has a real shot to win MVP. Kyler Murray brings his red hot undefeated Cardinals (7-0) to prime time. The Cardinals are for real. They have some quality wins under their belt such as the Rams, Titans, and Browns by a large margin. Murray has tossed for 2002 yards, 17 TD, and 5 INTs while going 164/223 completions. Murray also has 143 rushing yards and 3 rushing TD. Kyler could run the ball more, but hasn’t had the need.
The offensive advantage goes to the Arizona Cardinals as they are ranked 6th in total yards, 5th in rushing yards, 11th in passing and 4th in points. The Green Bay Packers don’t stack up in these categories as they are 23rd in total yards, 20th in rushing yards, 18th in passing, and 17th in points. Truly a testament to both Aaron Rodgers getting things done and Murray leading an electric offense.
The Cardinals defense also get the edge as their defense might be better than their offense. Cardinals rank 3rd in yards allowed, 2nd is passing yards allowed, 2nd in points, and 1st in 3rd down percentage. The Packers have also vastly improved their defense as they rank 8th in yards allowed, 5th in passing yards allowed, 17th in points allowed and 22nd in 3rd down percentage.
The Cardinals are the -6.5 favorite to cover the spread. The Cardinals have proved formidable and there is little doubt they don’t come out with a win. Aaron Rodgers is the big unknown X factor. This game is extremely hard to pick, however, the play is Cardinals -6.5. In buying down to -6.0 in case they get a late two point conversion. Devante Adams is in Covid protocol making it more difficult for the Packers to score against this defense.
