The 2021 European Weightlifting Championships take place in Moscow, Russia, from 3 to 15 April 2021.

The Bulgarian finished third in the snatch discipline on 111kg, with Moldova’s Daniel Lungu and Turkey’s Muammer Sahin leading the way on 113kg and 112kg, respectively. Rusev dominated the clean and jerk event at the Palace of Gymnastics in Moscow, lifting 147kg. Romania’s Valentin Iancu and Ukraine’s Dmytro Voronovskyi followed, after achieving lifts of 140kg and 137kg.

Ferdi Hardal, in the meantime, won a bronze medal in the 61-kilogram weight class, after lifting 287 kilograms in total. In the women's 55-kilogram weight class Sümeyye Kentli claimed a bronze medal in the clean and jerk, after lifting 110 kilograms.

The gold medal went to Romania’s Loredana Toma, 25, who is now the four-time European champion, showing today in Moscow a result of lifting 244 kilograms (114 kilograms in snatch and 130 kilograms in clean and jerk). The silver medal was packed by Sarah Davies, 28, of the United Kingdom with the final lift of 230 kilograms (101 kilograms in snatch and 129 kilograms in clean and jerk).
