The Summer X Games 2021 is scheduled to held from 14 – 18 July live content over the three days of competition on ESPN, ABC and ESPN2. Nearly 100 of the worlds top winter athletes will take center stage and will compete in biggest snow sport event of the year.

The X Games return to southern California after the 2020 games, intended to be held in Minneapolis, were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year’s event will not be open to the public, but fans can still interact with their favorite action sports athletes via “Virtual X Fest,” a virtual fan experience hosted by the X Games.

Can I watch X Games at Buttermilk? X Games Aspen will be a closed event and we will not allow spectators at the Buttermilk Terrain Park. Buttermilk will however be open for skiing and riding during January 29-31, 2021.

Can I ski or snowboard at Buttermilk during X Games Aspen? Yes, all four Aspen Snowmass mountains will be open for skiing and riding during X Games Aspen. The terrain park at Buttermilk will be closed to the public as X Games Aspen is taking place. Lift tickets for skiing and riding at Aspen Snowmass can be purchased online here.

Will discounted passes be available to college students? Unfortunately, we will not be offering the College X Pass, as spectators will not be allowed at Buttermilk and concerts will not be taking place this year. All four Aspen Snowmass mountains will continue to be open for skiing and riding and lift tickets can be found here.

One Winter X Games legend is going to miss out on this year's event, while another is making a return.

Canadian snowboarder Mark McMorris, who has won nine career X Games gold medals and a pair of Olympic medals, won't be participating this year after testing positive for COVID-19, according to ESPN's Alyssa Roenigk.

Last year, the 27-year-old took the silver medal in the big air event in Aspen, then won gold in big air and silver in slopestyle at X Games Norway.
